A Bouncing Baby Boy!

Feline boy that is. Just under two weeks ago my husband and I went to Craig Street Cats to find, well, a cat. We both had some specific things in mind as to what we wanted but every cat is an individual and we did have to compromise between us.

Here was my cat checklist:
1) relatively affectionate with people, I do like a cat that will cuddle up and watch tv with me
2) relatively playful with other cats, my husbands cat will play but learned from a dog and doesnt really know how to play with a cat

Tom is one of the many feral cats that can be seen in Wolseley. He spent the winter of 2009 staying warm in one of the shelters provided by Craig Street Cats. Unfortunately, he has managed to stay out of the trap, so he is still a true "tom cat".

Update, Apr. 2010: Tom has finally been trapped and neutered! It turns out that he is a VERY old fellow and has lost quite a few of his teeth. He has been returned to Craig Street, and comes around every day for food.

What's In A Name? Part II

Ahem, I seem to be on a roll tonight so I might as well continue.

So the dog. He was my first dog and as such I found him, chose him, arranged everything for him and chose his name. He was the biggest male puppy of a litter of 9 and was called by the mothers owner "Tank" cute name but I had already picked out my name. This has worked out but sometimes the name you choose really wont work out once you meet your animal, the cat's name was chosen after she came home with us.

What's In A Name?

So as this weekend approaches and "a friend for Mysty" also approaches the great name debate begins. When you adopt an animal do you keep their previous name? Many people dont because they want a 'clean slate' sort of mentality when it comes to their rescue. Many people do because that animal fits that name perfectly (or they have a total lack of imagination).

on things you never expected to find in Wolseley

There are many things one would never expect to find in this neighbourhood. Certainly a common bawdy house has to be near the top of that list. Strangely, though, one has been found. Found, raided, closed down, and reported upon in the media.

You'd think that if there were a brothel on your block, or across the back lane, you'd notice a few things. Things like strange men coming and going at all hours of the night, unusual traffic, unsavoury characters -- you know, all the things that are supposed to go along with whore houses.

More System Changes

Update, Sept. 5/09: It seems that gmail.com is a safe haven for spammers and other internet scum. I have therefore banned gmail. Users with gmail email addresses will not be allowed to register for WolseleyGirl.com user accounts.

If this affects any of our current members, they need only contact us via email to have their account access reset. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Follow The Money

It's a classic line from almost every cop movie or tv show; when you cant link things together (but you know they do) you 'follow the money'. Now this is a great idea and if the real world worked as Hollywood did then it would be as simple as looking at someones bank statments and check stubs (ha! who writes checks anymore?) Perhaps for the shadier dealers out there have some sort of code but it is easily cracked.

A Friend For Mysty

Last december I had to make the decision to end the life of a friend. Dandy was my first pet, my first "real" pet; not a fish or hamster or petsitting. She was adopted from the Winnipeg Humane Society in 1993, before organizations like Craig Street Cats or Quagga or D'arcys. I still have her adoption form and every scrap of paperwork that was about her.

System changes

Over the past while some rotten ne'erdowells have registered for WolseleyGirl.com user accounts and attempted to post links to material that is strictly against our terms of service. Because of this user registration has been changed to require admin approval before new users may login to their accounts.

The nasty no-goodnicks have been banned and blocked. I hope this ends the problem.
